Budget 2026 set the cost of living adjustment (COLA) for 2026 at EUR 4.66 a week.
For the employer
- Add the EUR 4.66 weekly COLA to employee pay for 2026.
For the employee
- Weekly pay rises by EUR 4.66 through the COLA.
In practice: Annual COLA effect: 4.66 x 52 = EUR 242.32.

Paid miscarriage leave and parental bereavement leave of 7 working days
Effective 1 Jan 2026
L.N. 274 of 2025 gives every worker seven working days of miscarriage leave without loss of wages, and L.N. 275 of 2025 introduces seven working days of paid parental bereavement leave after the death of a child under 18.
For the employer
- Record the new leave types in payroll; employers can claim reimbursement from the Department of Social Security within three months of the leave.
For the employee
- Workers are entitled to seven paid working days in each case.
