New 2026 income tax scale with lower middle rates

Effective income year 2026

For a taxpayer over 30 without children, the 2026 scale is 9% up to €10,000, 20% from €10,000 to €20,000, 26% from €20,000 to €30,000, 34% from €30,000 to €40,000, 39% from €40,000 to €60,000, and 44% above €60,000. Separate scales apply by age and number of children.

For the employer

  • Load the new 2026 scales (including age- and child-based variants) into payroll withholding.

For the employee

  • Most employees see lower withholding compared with 2025.

Minimum wage rises to €920

Effective 1 Apr 2026

From 1 April 2026 the minimum monthly wage rises from €880 to €920, the sixth consecutive increase. The government targets €950 by 2027.

For the employer

  • Raise pay for employees at the minimum and review seniority scales and allowances tied to the minimum wage.

For the employee

  • Minimum-wage workers receive €40 more a month.

In practice: €920 - €880 = €40 a month increase.
