2026 minimum wages: 315.04 general, 440.87 northern border

Effective 1 Jan 2026

CONASAMI raised daily minimum wages from 1 January 2026.

For the employer

  • General minimum wage: from 278.80 to 315.04 pesos per day (6.5% plus a 17.01-peso recovery amount).
  • Zona Libre de la Frontera Norte: from 419.88 to 440.87 pesos per day (5%).

For the employee

  • Professional minimum wages for 61 occupations rise in line with their zone.

Working week cut from 48 to 40 hours, 2027-2030

Effective 1 Jan 2027 Upcoming

The reform reduces the maximum working week gradually: 46 hours in 2027, 44 in 2028, 42 in 2029 and 40 in 2030.

For the employer

  • 2026 is a transition period; the first reduction to 46 hours applies in 2027.
  • Overtime limit of up to 12 hours paid at double and 4 at triple.

For the employee

  • The reduction may not imply any reduction of salaries, benefits or other labour rights.
  • Minors cannot work overtime.
