Private-sector minimum wage raised to EGP 7,000
Effective 1 March 2025
The National Wages Council raised the private-sector minimum wage from EGP 6,000 to EGP 7,000, effective 1 March 2025.
For the employer
- Pay at least EGP 7,000 per month to private-sector workers.
- Periodic allowance of at least 3% of the insurance subscription wage and not less than EGP 250 per month.
- Part-time workers: net hourly wage of at least EGP 28.
For the employee
- Minimum monthly wage of EGP 7,000.

Social insurance minimum and maximum insurable wage for 2026
Effective 1 January 2026
Insurable wage limits rise 15% each year through 2028. For 2026 the minimum is EGP 2,700 and the maximum EGP 16,700 per month.
For the employer
- Employer contribution: 18.75% of the social insurance salary.
For the employee
- Employee contribution: 11% of the social insurance salary.
In practice: Employee at the 2026 maximum: 16,700 x 11% = EGP 1,837 per month.

Insurable wage limits rise again in 2027
Effective 1 January 2027 Upcoming
Under the scheduled annual increases, the minimum insurable wage becomes EGP 3,200 and the maximum EGP 19,300 per month in 2027.
For the employer
- 18.75% employer contribution applies up to EGP 19,300.
For the employee
- 11% employee contribution applies up to EGP 19,300.
In practice: Employee at the 2027 maximum: 19,300 x 11% = EGP 2,123 per month.
